Indian Rocks Beach is not a resort island. It is quieter and lower-rise than Clearwater Beach or St. Pete Beach, and the city caps building height at about 35 feet, just families who have owned these houses for twenty or thirty years, with kids and grandkids now old enough to bring their own families down every July. The pool that belongs on this stretch of Pinellas is not a magazine pool. It is a shallow shelf for a toddler, a wide step instead of a ladder, and enough flat water for two adults to actually sit in it come January.

The geometry here is the real design problem. Many lots in Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores run just 50 feet wide and about 100 to 120 feet deep, sitting either Gulf-side or bay-side of Gulf Boulevard rather than spanning both. That shape puts the pool along the length of the property, not across it, and forces an early decision: sunset over the Gulf, or the calmer water on the bay? A bay-side lot in the Redingtons often already has a dock. A Gulf-side lot deals with more wind and sand. We design each one differently.
